Former Cloudy Bay wine maker Sarah Burton now makes this stunning Central Otago Pinot Noir. This inaugural release is made from the fruit of the original Calvert vineyard in Bannockburn - the one which Pyramid Valley, Craggy Range and Felton Road all made wine from for a few years. The vineyard has been family owned since 1989 and the vineyard was planted in 1998. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2003.
"Brand new to the market this youthful, savoury, ripe and very expressive wine showcases aromas of dried raspberry, dark red apple skin and cherry; there’s a fine wild-dried-herb savoury core then spicy oak and sweet toasty wood flavours. Tense, youthful and dry with firm chalky tannins and acidity to match. Additional flavours of dried flowers and a strong seam of crushed stone minerality emerge after twenty minutes in glass. Still on its journey to full harmony. Best drinking from 2021 through 2027+"

Bob Campbell's Investment Pick: "First release of a new wine from an established vineyard on Felton Road that has supplied grapes to several producers including Felton Road, Craggy Range, Cloudy Bay and Pyramid Valley. Felton Road continues to produce a Calvert Pinot Noir. Tiny production, famous vineyard and first vintage – all of the key investment elements. Oh … and it tastes fabulous." – Bob Campbell MW
